Fighting with an angel

An exhibition of Ukrainian sacred art of the 1990s will open in the small hall of the Imagine Point gallery. The exposition will present a series of conceptual paintings from the gallery's collection. The exhibition includes the works of such artists as Oleksandr Roitburd, Oleksii Malykh, Volodymyr Kostyrko, Serhii Biba, Borys Plaksii, Volodymyr Naumets, Vadym Petrov, as well as a wide range of works by artists of the Sumy school - Valerii Shkarupa, Oleksandr Sadovskyi, Mykola Zhulinskyi.

This era was marked not only by political transformations but also by profound transformations of society and individuals. Difficult times of change provoked a spiritual need to rediscover one's own "I" and to represent oneself as an individual. Responding to the challenges of time, artists turned to internal searches, reflecting them in the "philosophy of two worlds" - past and present, ritual and everyday, secular and sacred. The figures in the paintings symbolically remind us of the turbulence of that time and the desire for inner peace.

"Fighting the Angel" is a project about the importance of internal dialogue and the ability to share it in the language of art. We invite you to visit the exhibition from October 4 to 28 at the address of Kyiv, 86/1 Holosiivskyi Avenue, Imagine Point Gallery (small hall).
