Half is part of the gallery space, which the artists share during the project. This is one of the two components of content and artistic content that enter into a dialogue.
Nata Levitasova: “The project consists of four series-states: road, war, external and internal rebirth. They are entwined into one story. Unfinished, subjective, realistic. The road is the view from the window of a train heading west. The industrial zone seems to be frozen in anticipation. And only graffiti on the walls predict trouble. War is the embodiment of news. Fragments of pain, together forming a chronicle of events. This series is verbalized. Almost every picture contains text. Dry description or cry, date or extended story. External rebirth is different parts of Ukraine as different parts of the body of the Phoenix. The lines that enveloped factories, equipment, buildings are electric current, the veins of the Bird. Sometimes fire appears as the beginning of the end. Like the night before dawn. Inner rebirth is the path that I have overcome this year. I was stressed long before February 24th. Anxiety developed into panic attacks, and they led to a mental disorder. The series depicts the path of immersion and overcoming the disease. The bright stripes that enveloped the bodies are fear that prevents you from moving. And at the same time, this fear protects.
Alexey Revika: “The Red Line series was launched before February 24, it was planned differently. With the beginning of the invasion, the series changed and was finally formulated. As a form of expression, it is more like a poster - the most concentrated, concise and simple. Each work has 2 names - the name of the city and the event, these concepts are imprinted both in the mind and in creativity. I was born in Melitopol, so the events taking place in the south of our country affect me personally.”
The name of the project "Half" is also half of the year that has passed since February 24, 2022, February, which is still with us, and irrevocably changed us. Half of the year is a significant time to perceive everything that is happening with our country and try to find your place and role, to comprehend them with the help of creative processes.
