Exhibition of contemporary Ukrainian artists Sergei Gai and Vladislav Shereshevsky "18+" at Imagine Point gallery!

There is a “nude” theme on the surface, and the way each of our authors addresses it.

Symbolically, by the means of colors and shades, as Sergey Hai touches - and straightforwardly, "a bullet in the forehead", as Shereshevsky shoots. Beating all the sensations at once - inner taboos, nostalgia, embarrassment.

Alexei Malykh, when he conceived this exhibition for our modern art gallery Imagine Point, was interested in the conflict between the ways of expressing the two pillars, very well-known authors - on this topic, "nude".

But as we prepared for this exhibition, I realized that there is another theme that connects this project - and this theme is not on the surface, it is deeper and thinner. This topic - coincidence, unintentionality, eventuality - something that happens by accident, which can not be predicted.

Sergey mentioned that he greatly appreciates this "controlled error", this very coincidence, which he is unable to control when he creates his works - where the line leads, how the light falls, what color it is necessary… as if the work itself is leading - and this is happening here and now, when he is near it - and therefore he does not repeat his work, but begins new ones.

Vladislav, after the shock wave he inflicts on the viewer with his paintings, also speaks of coincidence, of excitement in the end. That the rules of the game exist and are worth knowing - but sometimes they need to be broken. About luck, good luck.

This lucky circumstance, what we call fortune, can come to each of us differently. It may barely touch - gently, fragilely lead. Or knock you off your feet, so that it takes your breath away, beats on the spot. And if we can feel this state - a beautiful game, the expectation of something unexpectedly pleasant, even excitement - "what will it be like?" - then this lucky chance, this bluebird will come to us.
