Rethinking life, gaining new experience, the border between "before" and "after", acceptance of reality are the culminating points or prolonged stages everyone goes through. We have begun to look at the old through the prism of new facts and are experiencing changes that require a reassessment of priorities and adaptation to new conditions.

The participants of the exhibition "LOST/FOUND" make us, as viewers, think about the fundamental themes of life and allow seeing a dichotomous world where opposites exist side by side: evil and good, shadow and light, loss and acquisition.

Each exhibition artwork skillfully conveys this fragmented reality and evokes strong emotions. The artists managed to express the feeling of changing priorities that each of us faces in new realities. They draw attention to our efforts in adjusting and revising our values.

The project is imbued with an atmosphere of welcome and a feeling that life goes on despite all the obstacles. In their works, artists reveal an emotional palette: stress and traumatic experience, destruction and loss. The authors encourage reflection on the human experience, transformation, and adaptation through sculptures, installations, and canvases. They penetrate the depth of emotions and philosophy to call us to review the world and feel its multifacetedness.

History is cyclical, so that certain parallels can be drawn between the LOST/FOUND exhibition and the work of artists of the mid-1940s. In particular, the topics and means of expression that were inherent in them aroused interest.

For example, Jean Dubuffet, Fritz Wotruba, and Paul Klee. Their works were marked by that duality mainly present in life, contrasts, and whimsical combinations in the world of each individual who had to divide his life into "before and after".

Serhii Simutin's "Sprouts" directly and indisputably indicates that life is a continuous process. No matter how it is destroyed, it will sprout, even in stone and metal.

The subway is a meeting place for many people, but who will forever remain strangers to each other. It causes a feeling of loneliness in a noisy and unpredictable environment. In his painting, Vladyslav Riaboshtan shows the subway escalators - a space that literally became a home for many people during the air raids.

The DIHTYAR sculpture "Face of the House" evokes unique emotions. The work reproduces a building in Kyiv after a shell hit. Today, this house has already been reconstructed and has become a symbol of our steadfastness and indomitability.

In general, the group exhibition "LOST/FOUND" at the Portal 11 Gallery conveys the idea that change and transformation are essential parts of our journey. Each historical period presents challenges, but it is crucial to remember that we can adapt and change along with the world around us.
It may not be an easy or even painful process, but no matter what, life goes on.
