Their canvases and sculptures take us to our favorite cities' colorful, joyful, lively streets. In their works, they managed to record their memories and impressions and express their emotions in these places. While contemplating their works, the artists invite us to watch the sunset on "Salyut", dance on the Potemkin stairs, and ride the funicular. In addition, Nicole and Michelle encourage viewers to reminisce about their own walks through the streets of these beautiful cities.
The exhibition "Exit to the City" becomes a bright-colored spot that stands out against the general "gray" background, allowing enjoying visual narratives, landscapes, and light subjects.
The project creates a peculiar atmosphere of impulsiveness and movement. Visual compositions transport you to the world of fast-paced city life, where every corner hides its unique story. Buildings, roads, people - everything interacts with each other, creating a symphony of the city's pulse. Each painting at the exhibition comes to life before the eyes of the audience, inviting them into a world full of colors, light, and positive emotions.
Having first presented the character of Yoyo in their street compositions, the Feldman sisters have now moved his environment to the gallery space. Yoyo is a hero who lived in Kyiv as a city of the future and went on exciting adventures together with creatures like him, avoiding the soulless and emotionally exhausted people with brain chips that dominated his world of the Yoyo series. Yoyo has been "relocated" and formatted according to the landscape canon familiar to many.
The gallery turns into a space where the yellow hero, who once lived in street compositions, now moves through the canvases of Feldman artists. He feels the pulse of city life, where every corner has its unique face and particular rhythm. Yoyo walks through the picturesque neighborhoods of the city, enjoying observing the city life. "Visual relaxation", as the authors call it. Everyone can walk with the hero of the series "Yoyo" through the streets of the city, enjoy their beauty, and be filled with energy.
The Feldman sisters' color palette impresses with its saturation and contrasts. In this exhibition, they embody the various shades and moods of city life: from the bright rays of the sun that fill the streets to the dark shades of the evening city; colors tell a story and embody certain emotions. The works become a kind of window into the world of inner reality, where a mixture of nostalgia, joy, dreams, and contemplation of urban nature intertwines with urban landscapes.
Paintings and installations appeal to our inner senses, inspiring reflection on our interactions with our environment, the meaning of the place we call "home", and how the city reflects and influences us. Looking at the works from the exhibition, you feel that each of us has our own unique vision of the city. Houses on canvases are always dynamic, transforming and changing their forms. Moreover, the space of our consciousness is transformed when we step on a new crossroads. It is like a symbolic extract from the depths of human nature itself - a constant need to explore, open new spaces, and feel harmony in interaction with the environment.
Cities are not just the external environment in which we live. They become part of our identity and reflect our experiences and inner world. Through the city, we can perceive the universe consciously, turning it into our creative reality. It is a place where we find new opportunities for self-expression and development and meet different cultures, ideas, and impressions. "Going out into the city" becomes a method of "visual relaxation" and a symbolic step towards human experimentation and self-discovery.
"Going out into the city" leaves a mark in our hearts, reminding us of the importance of perceiving the surrounding world with open eyes and hearts. Even now, in the period of martial law, when the cruelty of events cannot be avoided, there are reasons for joy. The simple act of walking becomes a response to the helplessness that can fill the human soul in such difficult times. A manifestation of cheerfulness is like a protest. A walk symbolizes freedom, an opportunity to free your imagination from the power of chaos and worries.
